Emma Smith, CEO
The brains behind the MyCommunity concept, Emma developed the idea for our unique online platform following a career in community engagement for charities and the public sector.
Directing campaign teams for HAP UK and Evirias, Emma repeatedly came up against the engagement problem when working with communities. Stakeholders and the public had little interest in engaging with organisations because of the perceived obstacles to doing so. Solving this problem formed the basis of Emma’s MSc in Business Management and the MyCommunity vision – that engagement should be simple, easy and instant for all involved.
Today, Emma uses her passion and business insight to lead an allstar team towards the future of engagement. In a movie of her life, Emma would be played by Uma Thurman.
Daniel Reinhold-Shor, Business Development
Daniel is our Business Development Director and Man from Manhattan. A sales, marketing and corporate strategy expert, Daniel sets our pace for growth through intelligent business planning and building relationships with the organisations that use MyCommunity.
Formerly Director of Business Development at GDS International and Railmark Holdings, Daniel brings a wealth of experience and business insight to the MyCommunity team, playing a key role in product and partnership development and sales strategy. He’s also a master storyteller and full-time charmer, with a degree in International Politics from Binghamton University, New York.
In a movie of his life, Daniel would be played by Ralph Macchio.
Jacek Artymiak, Research and Development
Jacek is working with us on a major R&D project into gathering and analysing social media content, as part of our ongoing relationship with the West of England Growth Fund.
Born in Korytno, Poland and based in London, Jacek is an expert python developer and big data specialist, working with the likes of Fabric Worldwide, Depop and Hewlett Packard before joining us at MyCommunity.
A professional writer, Jacek has also penned and published books on IT development and world travel. In a movie of his life, Jacek would be played by Marlon Brando.
Don Keir, CTO
MyCommunity co-founder and CTO Don was responsible for taking Emma’s vision and developing our online engagement platform. Now focussed on taking MyCommunity.net into the future, Don combines technical expertise with an entrepeneurial eye for bright ideas.
Over 30 years in the IT and telecoms industry, Don has provided technical solution architecture and strategic consulting services to businesses of all sizes. Before creating MyCommunity.net, Don was co-founder and CEO of Sidonis Ltd., helping develop the flagship StateWise product later acquired by NetBoss Technologies.
A doctor of astrophysics with a love of the outdoors, Don spends his time staying one step ahead of the latest digital trends. In a movie of his life, Don would be played by Ed Harris.
Frank Wilson, VP Engineering
Frank is our rocksteady IT veteran, maintaining MyCommunity.net, testing new features and ensuring we’re ready for future development.
Passionate about creating quality software, Frank has an MSc in Internet and Distributed Systems studies and has spent the last decade working for a host of standout tech firms, including Netboss Technologies and Adaptavist. When he’s not cycling the invigorating route between Bristol and Bath, Frank contributes to open source communities and works on a variety of virtualisation, language design and procedural content generation projects. In a movie of his life, Frank would be played by Jesse Eisenberg.
Callum Dunbar, Content and Communications
Callum is our resident copywriter and marketing coordinator, working to deliver the digital content that keeps MyCommunity fresh.
With a keen interest in politics and a degree in modern history from Christ Church, Oxford, Callum worked as a freelance writer before joining the MyCommunity team. In a movie of his life, Callum would be played by Steve Buscemi.
Elspeth Hinde, Social Media
Elspeth is our social media whizz, broadcasting the MyCommunity message across more than 15 different networks on a daily basis. If you’ve contacted us via Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn, you’ll already be familiar with one of the friendliest members of the MyCommunity team.
Before joining us, Elspeth worked for Bath and North East Somerset Council and Bath Film Festival. Elspeth continues to play a central role at the festival, programming the sci-fi selection and wider schedule. In a movie of her life, Elspeth would be played by Kathy Bates.
