MyCommunity surveys are a fast and convenient way to gather high value feedback from visitors at events. We’ve been working with the likes of Melksham Food Festival to host their survey campaign and it got us thinking; read on for our essential guide to using MyCommunity at your next meeting, function or festival.
Step 1. Decide your feedback format
There are two ways to host a MyCommunity feedback survey; online or offline.
If you’ve got an iPad or other tablet device and wi-fi access at the venue for your event, visitors can give their feedback before they’ve left by registering and logging into MyCommunity.net using their Facebook account. In your tablet internet browser, bookmark the summary page of your survey to make it easy to access. Be sure to check each respondent has logged out of their MyCommunity account before handing the iPad to the next visitor.
Alternatively, collect the email addresses of your attendees and send them a request to complete your survey soon after the event ends. This method works well; for Melksham Food Festival, we collected more than 60 survey responses in the hours following the event. In your email, feel free to include our email contact – info@mycommunity.net – for respondents who require support completing their survey.
Step 2. Promote your survey It’s crucial to create a buzz around your feedback survey. Have a team member stood at the exit of your event handing out sweets or balloons with an informational flyer or gathering email addresses; produce posters and mention your survey in the event programme; if you have one, announce your survey over a tannoy system.
Promoting your campaign shouldn’t stop when your event ends. Monitor Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for comments about your event, and reply with the URL (weblink) for your survey. If the URL is too long for the comment field, shorten it using Bitly. Simply paste your URL into the top box and copy the shortlink you’ve created. Signing up for Bitly also lets you monitor how many times your survey link was clicked via social media, email or any other promotional method.
Step 3. Boost your campaign with a reward
Offering an incentive for visitors to complete your survey is a great way of boosting response rates. Past MyCommunity reward schemes have increased numbers of results by more than six times.
The reward you provide could be as simple as discounted tickets to your next event or a free tea or coffee at a local cafe. If you’re stuck for inspiration, let us help: we work with local businesses across the UK to negotiate and administer rewards for many of our survey hosts.
MyCommunity offers the perfect way to gather visitor feedback from any event. To find out how others have used our unique free survey service, read our case study or get in touch with us directly at info@mycommunity.net
